Spring is Here: Time to Start the Landscaping

With the end of March upon us, spring is here and it is time to start your landscaping projects. You however need to do things right so as to end up with a beautiful garden. This includes:

Evaluate your soil

A lot of rain and snow in winter normally erodes most nutrients from the soil. It is therefore important to add fertilizers and other soil amendments so as to correct this situation. You should cultivate all the soil going one foot deep in order to achieve the best results. If possible, get some farmyard manure and sprinkle it on your garden.

The spring garden

When the soil is ready, it is time to start your spring garden. You however need to find the right vegetables to plant. Another great idea for your garden is to plant spring flowers such as marigolds, geraniums, bearded iris, petunias and azaleas. If you want your garden to smell nice and fresh, you should consider planting fragrance flowers. Flowers such as Gardenia, lilac and jasmine are going to help you a lot in this. In addition to having a good smell, these flowers are a very colorful. Alternatively, you can enhance the smell of your garden by planting herbs such as thyme and sage.

Control the weeds

Weeds grow faster than other types of plants. Therefore, it is important to practice some weed control so as to leave your garden looking beautiful and tidy. You can dig through your garden and depending on the type of plants that you have, you can use weed control chemicals to keep your garden looking tidy. If you choose to dig, you can add a thick layer of mulch to suppress weed on the ground.

Preparing your home garden for the spring is very important as it makes your home beautiful and welcoming. You can plant vegetables, flowers and even fruit trees. And with the right soil improvement practices such as the use of fertilizers, your plants will do very well.
